More Plants!
Food is medicine. Therefore, we should all think of the grocery store (aka Whole Foods) as our pharmacy.
With all the diets out there (Paleo, Vegan, Mediterranean, etc.), sometimes it’s difficult to know what we should be eating. But there is one thing that the wellness gurus agree on—we should all eat more plants! And no better way to get those greens into our bellies than a big glass of Green Juice.
🔥 Top Juicing Tips for Maximum Health Benefits
1. Choose the Right Juicer
The best juicer is the one you’ll actually use! Here are your two main options:
🛠 Centrifugal Juicers (Omega, Breville)
Spinning blade, fast juicing
Easier cleanup
Generates some heat (may reduce nutrients)
Not ideal for grasses and sprouts
🎧 Masticating Juicers (Kuvings)
Slowly chews and presses out the juice
No heat: retains more nutrients
Can handle grasses and sprouts
More effort to clean
2. Go Organic or Buy Local (Especially the Dirty Dozen)
Avoid pesticides by choosing organic produce or supporting your local farmers.
3. Give Them a Bath (Wash Properly)
Use lemon juice, vinegar, and baking soda are all good for washing produce.
4. Prep Them for the Journey
Cut large fruits and veggies into juicer-friendly sizes.
· The pineapple core is full of nutrition (Bromelain)- so juice it!
Peel non-organic produce and citrus fruits (oranges, lemons, etc.).
Remove seeds, pits, and cores (FYI: some say apple seeds are toxic!).
Seeds that are inside fruits/veggies (oranges, cucumbers, etc.) are fine to juice!
The doohickey on the celery = great for juicing.
Carrot tops? Cut them off, but no need to peel.
5. Go for Nutrient-Dense Greens
Leafy greens, sprouts, and wheatgrass are juicing superstars! We love Got Sprouts for high-quality organic sprouts and grass delivered to your door.
6. Limit Fruit & Some Mixtures
Depending on your health concerns, you may want to:
Limit sugar, even from natural sources/fruit. Disease/cancer loves sugar.
Choose low-glycemic fruits.
If you have thyroid concerns, consult your doctor before juicing cruciferous veggies like kale.
7. Say No to Foam
No one likes foamy juice. Rid the foamy stuff with a small kitchen strainer.
8. Re-Juice Your Pulp
Conserve those pricey organic veggies by putting the pulp through the juicer a second time!
9. Train Your Taste Buds
Green juice might taste like grass clippings at first. Stick with it—your taste buds will adjust! And you may even (dare I say) begin to ENJOY the earthy flavor.
Mask the taste by dousing with a little (or a lot) of lemon/lime juice, which is alkalizing without adding unwanted sugar.
If you’re not concerned about sugar, add some fruit.
10. Chug It, Don’t Sip
This is not fine wine! Shotgun your juice while focusing on how amazing it is for your body.
11. Big Batches, Store Right, and Consume Within 24 Hours
You’re busy, so make a big batch in the morning and drink throughout the day
Nutrients are quickly lost when exposed to oxygen, so air-seal by filling glass jars to the tippy top (so there’s no room for air) and air-seal with a tight lid.
Add lemon juice to help fill jars clear to the top, improve taste and prevent oxidation.
Drink within 24 hours to ensure it still has nutrients intact and no bacteria (yuck!)
Wheatgrass juice? Drink within 15 minutes or freeze into cubes for later.
Some say to drink juice on an empty stomach, some say with food, etc. I say “who cares” There’s never a bad time for juice. So, go ahead and juice anytime, anywhere, day or night!
12. Keep Your Juicer Clean (or Have Spare Parts!)
Nothing is worse than craving a green juice but realizing you must first clean the juicer (ugh). Stay ahead of the game!

JUST DO IT 💪 ✅
After diagnosis, it didn’t matter what the Universe had in store. Wildfires, snowstorms, a zombie apocalypse—like clockwork, my mom was standing over the juicer at 6:30am. She made sure I did not leave the house (literally I was held hostage), until the green juice was consumed.
Now that I'm an adult, juicing continues to be my morning ritual. It feels good knowing that by 8am, I've already ingested a boatload of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, enzymes and phytonutrients.
I won’t lie—the taste took some getting used to. My mom tried fancy cups, fruit garnishes, and pep talks to convince me it’s delicious. But in reality? It tastes a lot like grass clippings.
That’s why I add a little fruit and chug it while focusing on how it’s supercharging my health:
💚 Bolstering my immune system
📚 Altering my gene expression (seriously, this is powerful!)
💧 Hydrating and nourishing my cells
🔄 Quelling disease-causing inflammation
🤝 Helping to balance blood sugar
🏥 Preventing disease
🌱 Juice On!
At the end of the day, there’s never a bad time for juice. So grab that juicer, and flood your body with liquid nutrition! 🌿🍹
