Perusing a Doctorate of Physical Therapy
My son’s cancer diagnosis changed everything. I know what it feels like to have your life hijacked in an instant.
In early 2014, my happy, healthy, active 11-year-old had begun to complain of leg pain. What we thought was a sports injury turned out to be a Ewing sarcoma tumor on his left femur. It felt as though the earth had stopped spinning on its axis and the thought of what my sweet child would have to endure was completely overwhelming.
As a jail-based mental health therapist, I understood the profound effect the mind has on the body and the need to treat the whole person. After obtaining second and third opinions from renowned institutions (Harvard, Yale, CHOP, etc.), we opted to utilize an integrative approach to wellness. Our method included both conventional and alternative mind/body therapies, with a focus on the Big 6 Pillars of Health to promote healing and longevity.
My son sailed through his 12 months of treatment. In fact, he finished treatment early. Our amazing outcomes ignited a passion for health and longevity and a desire to spread the word about the efficacy of integrative therapies. And so, McClintock Wellness was born.
Today, more than a decade since his diagnosis, my son serves as COO of McClintock Wellness and is committed to helping others accelerate their mental and physical wellness goals using the same mind/body strategies that helped him recover. Additionally, I sold my jail-based therapy practice to devote my full attention to helping build something special at McClintock Wellness. Our goals are expansive; From our current educational website, online courses, and philanthropy, to a future clinic that will bring together a “dream team” of professionals to provide a unique brand of comprehensive mind/body care.
We often marvel that without my son’s diagnosis, there would be no book, no educational website, no opportunity to serve others, and no full circle moment. We realize that not all stories unfold the way ours did. We are humbled and grateful beyond words.
Wishing you peace & health,
The Big 6 Pillars of Health
God blessed us with a body that has an innate ability to heal itself when given what it needs. These 6 pillars gently provide balance to the body's terrain for a strong mind and strong body.
1. Diet
Food is medicine & you are what you eat. So consume God’s food; an organic, plant-based diet (without processed foods).
2. Supplements
Gaps in nutrition need to be filled for optimal health; vitamins, herbs, medicinal mushrooms, etc.
3. Exercise
Intentional exercise sparks the immune system, improves mood, strengthens the body, and increases longevity.
4. Rest
Quality rest allows the body to clean-up the damage caused by our modern world. Get 7-8 hours of slumber to repair and rejuvenate.
5. Rid Toxins
Our bodies are not designed to endure the toxicity of our modern world such as WiFi, BPA, pesticides, and GMOs.
6. Happiness
The mind/body connection is profound. Stress reduction, spirituality, love, fun, and laughter are truly the best medicine.
Strong Mind = Strong Body
Our Book
Happiness is listed as one of our "6 Pillars of Health" for good reason. Not only is happiness critical to overall wellness; Happiness is the goal of life. The mind/body connection is profound and our state of mind largely impacts our physical performance and can affect us at a cellular level. In fact, daily stress can cause chronic inflammation, affecting gene expression and promoting disease.
Learn how to reduce stress, find your purpose, achieve goals, raise your mental game, improve relationships, deal with trauma, and find happiness in our modern world.

Maybe you’ve experienced a crisis that seems insurmountable, making it difficult to see a silver lining. Or maybe you are grieving, depressed, or anxious.
